Our Challenges
Like many districts across Minnesota, Win-E-Mac Schools faces growing financial challenges.
Funding Falling Behind:
For the past 20 years, state funding for public education has failed to keep pace with rising costs. The state is contributing 18.6% less toward public education than in 2005 (adjusted for inflation).
More Demands, Less Support:
Meanwhile, new mandates and rising expectations have required districts like ours to do more with far less support.
A Growing Deficit:
Our district faced a $300,000 budget deficit last year and faces a $350,000 deficit this year – a shortfall projected to grow in the coming years without additional funding.
Tough Decisions:
Without additional funding, the district will be forced to make tough budget decisions, which could include reducing teachers and staff, increasing class sizes, and cutting electives, student services and academic programs.
